Cleaning up the events industry, one screen at a time!
DBpixelhouse is leading the events industry by example when it comes to protecting our people and the planet.

What does responsibility look like in the events world? For years, our industry has had a reputation for being anything but sustainable – think throwaway kit, long-haul flights, high-power usage and a whole lot of waste. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

At DBpixelhouse, we believe that delivering spectacular AV and IT solutions shouldn’t compromise our people or the planet.
From how we power our kit to how we support our team, we’ve built a culture that truly cares. And we’re not done yet!
Prompted by a recent award submission, we took a moment to stop and reflect on what we’ve achieved so far, and plan out where we’re heading next…

Let’s be honest: live events aren’t the easiest place to be green. But at DBpixelhouse, we don’t see that as an excuse, we see it as a challenge.
We’ve made some big changes to how we work. We now operate a zero-to-landfill policy, working with dedicated waste partners to track every single item of kit that comes back to HQ. If it can be reused, we’ll reuse it. If it needs a fix, we repair it. And if it’s truly beyond saving, we strip it for spares or recycle it through compliant electrical waste routes.
At our HQ, we’ve swapped out old systems for low-energy upgrades (LEDs, sensors, and a modern boiler) and put prompts in place to keep energy front of mind for the whole team. We’re also in year three of tracking our greenhouse gas emissions, which is giving us real data to guide real reductions.
But we didn’t stop there. Our new website has gone from an F to a B rating in global carbon scores, making it around 75% cleaner than the average site! This small digital change signals a much broader ambition: to lead the charge in cleaning up an industry that’s long accepted waste as the norm.

For us, ESG isn’t just about policies or paperwork – it’s about the team behind the tech.
We’ve now got 13 ESG Champions across the business who are challenging how we work and bringing new energy to every department. We’ve also focused hard on creating a workplace people actually want to be part of. From EV schemes and cycle-to-work options to simple things like free fruit and well-stocked washrooms, we’re making sure our crew feel looked after and supported.
This mindset extends far beyond our own team. We work closely with clients to help them meet their own ESG targets, too. Whether we’re rigging a huge LED screen at a live music event or supplying seamless AV for a high-profile conference, we’re proving that sustainable choices can still have a big impact.
We’re also proud of the part we play in our local community. From food bank drives and youth sports sponsorship to litter picks and backing projects like ‘Tewkesbury in Bloom’, we’re putting our values into practice and strengthening our connection with the place we’re proud to call home.

Cutting through the noise of greenwashing and greenhushing
At DBpixelhouse, we know that ESG is a constant process of learning and evolving. So we’ve baked that into how we work.
Every month, we share updates and progress reports with our whole team. We’ve invested in training, attended conferences, contributed to industry roundtables, and shared insights at sustainability panels. We’re challenging ourselves to stay ahead of the curve, but we don’t claim to have all the answers!
We’re not afraid to talk about the messy bits, either. We’ve seen how easily businesses can fall into greenwashing or greenhushing, so we’ve made it a priority to back up every claim we make with evidence, and to speak up when it matters. Our Sustainability Lead, Amanda Marshall, recently shared her thoughts in an ESSA editorial tackling this topic.
Leading the events industry by example
Our ESG efforts aren’t just a short-term box-ticking exercise, they’re a way of doing business. At DBpixelhouse, we’re proving that world-class AV and IT solutions shouldn’t come at a cost to the planet or our people. Technology will keep moving and regulations will get tougher, but we’ll keep pushing to build a cleaner, more ethical industry.
